ACI CEO Todd R. Walsh was recently quoted in CNN Underscored for an in-depth article about how and why to buy dividend stocks.
Here is an excerpt below from CNN Underscored:
“Todd Walsh, CEO and chief technical analyst at Alpha Cubed Investments, said he likes ‘to think of dividend stocks like you would think of a great apartment building. You don’t buy an apartment building to make a quick score and sell fast. You buy a high-quality apartment building in a good area to have the rents go up over time, have your cash flow increase over time, and then the value of the building will follow. If your high-quality dividend stock doubles its dividend over 10 years, you will likely keep pace with inflation, and the value of the stock should follow as well.'”
“Walsh didn’t recommend the stock but cited Lockheed Martin (LMT) as an example, noting that the company has raised its quarterly dividend from $1.33 to $3.15 per share over the last 10 years. ‘Most investors don’t realize this is a fairly common practice,’ he pointed out. ‘It is a critical component to helping your overall cash flow needs keep up with inflation as you move into and through retirement.'”
